Charlie's Rustic Glam Bridal Shower

A couple months ago, I had the huge honor of hosting (with my Mom) a bridal shower for our precious family friend, Charlie. When Charlie and her family moved to our church, she was probably in 3rd or 4th grade (???) and I was a sophomore or junior in high school..  Anyone remember?? ha.. That long ago. +10 years ago. I used to babysit her! Our families used to go on outings together (our parents still do..) and we still spend Christmas Eve with them every year. I love them so much.

Then Charlie grew up and met Colby, and fell in love with him. And he's just great for her. I don't think anyone could ever be opposed to their union. It's perfect. :)

So, knowing that their wedding was looming in May, I started thinking about her shower in like January, I swear. Love me a party. I decided "Rustic Glam", because I think it suits her very well.

Here were the invites:

I went with her color of mint green, and I threw in gold. :) For the Glam factor. Her other color was peach. These were from Etsy, DesignsByDee.

"In lieu of a guestbook, please address an envelope to yourself!"
because busy brides need all the help they can get, in the midst of planning a wedding!

A beautiful "R" for the new last name!

Photos of Charlie and Colby in thrifted gold frames graced the tables, with gold painted Mason jars full of gorgeous spring flowers. And all my hand stamped gold and turquoise confetti hearts. :)

The sweets table! (It was cold and rainy outside..)

Saw this idea online, and knew I wanted it! So mom and I made it happen! It was so fun figuring out the icing. And they were yummy!!

Chocolate dipped pretzels!

Golden marshmallow pops! These were addicting. And that stand took one whole afternoon to craft. :)

Obsessed with paper straws! From Etsy, ThePartyFairy.

Ahh.. loved these.. Spinach dip cups with pita chips! Guests loved these!

And some delicious chicken salad croissants! (It was after lunch, so we didn't wanna fill the people with 2nd lunch!)

My new favorite thing.. rag garlands. So elegant and whimsical. I got all these fabrics/laces at JoAnn's. I had the burlaps already.

The Mother of the Bride (on the left) and other party-goers (church family) my grandmother Ivy :), Patty.

Opening tons of great gifts!

Same face, Charlie!

Charlie and Colby with all their loot! You could stock a home with all they got! So wonderful!

Me and my girl. Love her to pieces! So happy for her!

It was a fun shower! Thanks so much to my Mom for all you did, and also to Mrs. Mallory Holladay for helping some too! It takes a village. :)

A few pics from their big day, a couple weeks ago!!

It was kinda hot!

Granna and Cohen!

Neither boy wanted to sit for the duration of the ceremony...

Mom and the mother of the Bride :)

One of the only pics of Charlie from my big camera! Tossing that bouquet!
It was too hot and kids were too crazy to carry my camera around much. :( Oh well! Got an iPhone pic with the bride!

Cohen at 3 years

Our big guy turned 3 years old yesterday. It's amazing to me that he's a little boy now. He's not even a toddler. He's a kid. I know we've had three years to adjust to the idea, but... he's just so grown, all of a sudden.

(resting in the recently-dug-out Bumbo seat for brother)

He's really a good boy. Sure we have our moments, when it's just him, me and baby here during the day. Tensions can run high. But that's mostly my fault.

He loves his little brother. He will offer his paci back, if it falls out and Liam cries. He lays with him under the play gym, showing him how the toys rattle or play music, etc. He kisses him goodnight every night. If he walks into the living room and doesn't see him, he'll always ask, "Where's brudder?" :)

Cohen still loves his cars. And he has a ridiculous collection of them, too. We're gonna go a while without buying any. Promise.  But, he's branched out. He likes Nerf guns and monster trucks now, too. (big boy toys...)

He loves to play outside. Anything outside, he's there.

He's 90% potty trained! Still working on the nighttime. This is a huge victory, since we have a new one in diapers! (we haven't been for his 3 year checkup yet).

This year he wanted Chuck E. Cheese... and we're trying to move, so I didn't want to clean our small apartment. So we did it!

We did our own party at Chuck E. Cheese. And I must say, it's the way to go!
Their party was annoying.

Mama-made cake. :) It was rainbow inside!

Two of our five claimed tables. I did a light "Cars" theme.

Playing games with Pop! So glad they could come!

Uncle Josh and Cortney came!! Baby brother finally woke up, in time for pizza!

Birthday boy!

Miss Leslie and Daddy, with Colton! (Colton shares Cohen's birthday, but he's 1!)

Sweet pumpkin, getting Granna time!

All the daddies, with their boys! (Minus Cohen who was playing!)
Cory and Brooks, Tyler and Baker, Patrick and Colton, Hector and Liam

Josh and Cortney playing a racing game with Coco.

Pop was trying to "win tickets for Cohen"... yea.. :)

Maggie riding that weird bicycle ride... the kids love it for some reason.

Ugh.. Guess I didn't take a picture of the inside. :( It was beautiful and delicious. :)

A big thanks to Granna and Pop, Josh and Cortney, Leslie, Jackie, Patrick and Colton, Sallie, Tyler, Maggie, and Baker, Cory, Ashley and Brooks for coming out to celebrate our big 3 year old! He loves you all so much! (So do we!)

We are so, so lucky to be your parents, Cohen. You make us smile and laugh every day. We can't wait to watch you as you continue to grow and mature. It's amazing to watch. We pray the Lord watches over you and blesses and guides you. You are precious. You made us parents. We're so thankful for you. Happy birthday, Coconut!

My big 2 year old!

Our "little" guy turned two just over a month ago! We had a fun little Texas Ranger's Baseball party for him. It was much more scaled down than first birthday, but that's ok. We were about to be moving and didn't want anything that cost a crazy amount. And our apartment isn't the biggest place!

The Concession Stand!

Rangers!

His Cake (I made it and Mom helped me frost it!)

Found these at Party City!

Everybody signed the baseball--What a great memory!

Cousin Alysse got to come!

This little boy snuck up and ate more cake after his guests had left!

One of his favorite gifts from us was his first Thomas and Friends track set! He loves it!

It was such a wonderful night. We served hot dogs and chips. We had all the concession stand goodies: popcorn, Cracker Jacks, Baby Ruth's, Snickers, Reese's, and Big League Chew!! I made some little yogurt and fruit parfaits for a healthier option, then of course there was cake. :) Our little birthday boy was so happy! We're so thankful for everyone who came over--The Allen's, The Cole's, The Ray's, The Buxton's, Uncle Josh, Roland&Jordan&Alysse, and of course Granna and Pop!!

Cohen at 2
Favorite snack: Gummies
Favorite drink: mama's "Peppers" (Dr. Pepper) (He doesn't get much, and not often!!)
Favorite toy: cars!
Favorite movie: Cars!
Favorite tv show: Caillou or Thomas and Friends
Weight: 25#9.5oz
Height: 32.5 inches (2 feet, 8.5 inches)

He's such a sweet, sweet boy. He is getting head strong now, though. Learned to say, "No!" "Mine!" "I don't want it!" But he also will grab the car keys, come up to us, pucker his lips and say "Kiss, kiss" and then walk to the door and say "See ya later! Be careful!" He loves to watch the show, Caillou. He asks for it by pointing at the TV and saying "Caillou?? Wosie?? Gibbert??"Which of course is Caillou, Rosie (his sister) and Gilbert (their cat). I think it's precious even though I don't love the show. He's a great kid. Makes us laugh and smile everyday. We love Coco!!!

Also, a special shout out to Jackie and Patrick who came to Cohen's party.. She was 39 weeks and 6 days pregnant.. and she went into labor that night, after the party! Wow! So Little Colton Ray was born the next day, sharing birthday with sweet Cohen! Such a great day!

Jackie and her parents!

Me with the guest of honor!

Almost got our whole group together for a throwback picture!

Though he thought it was a little creepy, Mr. Cole sure liked his mustaches.. no? ;)

Our sweet out-of-towners, Brittany and Preston!!!

Brittany offered up a fun announcement.. She's 10 weeks pregnant!! Yaaay!

Our game of the party. Draw a baby, on top of your head, with a mustache. Jackie gets to pick the winner.

Concentrating...

Going through the hopefuls...

Cory wins! It's hard to see, but there is a round shape (head) with a crooked shape (mustache) drawn there. :) Congrats Cory!

Me and Britt!

The ladies! Sallie, Maggie, Ashley, Jackie, Brittany and me! I'm the only non-prego lady here... besides Mags, but she's a baby. :)

Goofy parents! :)

They played right along! Thanks for coming Stacey and Dale!

Add in Patrick's awesome Mom, Leslie!
